““all our troubles began in the garden
from there we were thrown out
it wasn’t fun being cast out of there
we struggled we battled we ate and we sinned
the fight still goes on when do troubles end

we weary of this fight this battle this struggle
we tire of this game God we tire of this pain
we long for the peace that happiness you promised
when do we get that sir
for goodness knows we’ve suffered long and hard for it God

perhaps if you had given those beautiful angels some soul
maybe they wouldn’t be so mean and so jealous of us such
it caused such woe after all putting that damned snake in the garden
and those retched little red apples too sir
it wasn’t their fault or was it God — or was the fault yours

who needs little red apples with worms mother
that don’t fall from a tree nicely
in a garden such as Eden
where beauty abounds everywhere
look but don’t touch doesn’t work nicely there sir

I mean why should such creatures of beauty
fight and be mean wretched unkind and ugly
let alone to one another to mankind and even to You
I think there is a flaw in your great perfect plan
can’t you do something about that — can’t you fix it sir

we poor little street rat humans think you can
we believe you can correct this
by the righting your hand
I mean did David need to ask
Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me Sir

and then Christ and then Us and then I too God
what does the Devil do pining in Hell
does he dream of being prodigal
of returning home to the nest
or was it his little garden where all his trouble began

I think that will do Sir
I think it will God
time to do homework
come up with a better plan
than a garden like Eden where all our troubles began

think about that Adam and Eve Michael the Archangel and Lucifer His Enemy God
then gather your armies and make peace amongst foes
maybe then sin won’t be a problem and man won’t fight man
maybe we won’t be again you and each other and our blood will not flow
and make a garden of and on our Earth God
where all our troubles are gone Sir

I appeal I beg I cry out to thee God
on behalf of our people our planet our plot
we’d rather have a nice little garden that’s pretty to play in
we’d rather have a pretty little green place to call home and live in an on
than to be turned like a worm back into dust when we’re done

what do you think God of Abraham God Almighty God of Moses God
when you can answer that sir
maybe Heaven and Hell would then give you
a day off with pay
I know I would God I know I would sir

HOW ABOUT A NICE LITTLE PLOT
ONE LITTLE GREEN ACRE ON EARTH
TO RETIRE TO GOD TO RETIRE IN PLACE OF ROT SIR
WOULD YOU LIKE A PRETTY TREE
AND A PRETTY LITTLE BRICK RESIDENCE NO PALACE NO GOLD PAVED STREETS

so think about all our troubles beginning in that garden god
think about it long and hard god sir
think about all our troubles beginning in that place
that Garden of Eden in that now forbidden lot
who goes there anyway – you sir

is it fun
are you happy
I know we are not
how are those angels those demons those sinners sir
are they still at it tearing their tongues and soulless hearts out

do they tire of the battle
do they tire of your pain and your magnificent golden ruled plan
do they long for peace and happiness
do they long not to fight sir
I know we all do – how about you God, how about you?”
